Looking back on his eventful life, shoe shiner Chico fondly recalls his glory days as a pianist and his fascination with sultry singer Rita. A notorious ladies man, Chico falls head over heels for Rita's bountiful charms and the pair become collaborators in every sense. To keep their dreams alive, Chico and Rita travel to America in search of fame and fortune but Lady Luck can be a cruel mistress.
