Successful actress Hannah watches her marriage to husband Elliot fall apart because of an adulterous affair with one of her sisters, Lee. Meanwhile, Hannah's drug-addicted other sister, Holly, whose efforts to land acting jobs are just as disastrous as her attempts to snare a good man, begins dating hypochondriac Mickey Sachs. She tries her hand at screenwriting and pens a script based on her sister's ailing marriage, rubbing salt into Hannah's wounds.
