Danish doctor Anton works at an African refugee camp, where he witnesses senseless suffering on a daily basis, putting his own woes into stark relief. Back home, he is separated from his Marianne and their two sons, and Anton is oblivious to the suffering of his oldest boy Elias, who is bullied mercilessly at school. During yet another taunting in the playground, Elias is rescued by the new boy, Christian, who is struggling to come to terms with the recent death of his mother from cancer.
