Farmer's wife Sarah wakes one morning during the Second World War to discover her husband Tommy has vanished without trace. So too have all of the other men in the isolated Welsh border valley of Olchon, leaving wives and girlfriends to fend for themselves. A German platoon led by Captain Albrecht arrives in the town and takes control and Sarah finds herself inextricably drawn to the Nazi officer.
