If you're a middle-aged woman experiencing, awaiting or recovering from "the change of life", you'll probably find a group of women to bond with at Menopause the Musical. Writer-producer Jeanie Linders reportedly got the idea for the show from a hot flash and a bottle of wine, and since Menopause's debut in Florida in March 2001, nearly 9 million women (and undoubtedly a few embarrassed men) have seen it. You'll have to laugh at the four leading ladies, who meet at a department store lingerie sale and have little in common but hot flashes, night sweats and bedroom problems. The musical revolves around parodies of Sixties and Seventies hits, including My Thighs, a new take on Mary Wells' My Guy, and Stayin' Awake, based on the Bee Gees classic Stayin' Alive. Watch the adventures of these baby boomers and you'll never again think of the "rite of passage" in the same way.
