OCCUPY LONDON faces eviction from outside St Paul's cathedral tomorrow, but the spirit of protest against banker-led austerity will live on, believes Godmother of Punk Vivienne Westwood, who spoke at the camp recently.

Westwood drew a parallel between the symbolism of the 100-day old Occupy London camp and her own artistic sensibility.

"Art is a freedom fighter for the better world," she said.

Westwood argued that the appreciation of art can offer a route out of economic woes by providing a living alternative to consumer culture.

"You have to understand the past to move forward in the future," she said sternly.

"We need a world with real cultural content," said the iconic fashion designer.

Westwood also linked the world's current financial problems to climate change and asked people to pay much more attention to the earth and the waste being produced.

Other celebrities including Thom Yorke, Massive Attack and Alan Moore have also stopped by Occupy London to show their support.

Though the Occupy London camp has been served with eviction for tomorrow, 25.01.12, it is possible that campaigners will make a last-ditch effort to resist.
